United States Pirate Party

 We all love the Pirate bay, and recently is was taken down, but it lives on in a new and exciting form!

According to Finland's public broadcast, the Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has said that starting next July, every citizen in Finland will have the right to a 1Mb broadband connection, with the goal of raising that speed to 100Mb by the end of 2015. 
 
The Finnish government plans to do this by selecting Telecom Operators (ISPs) and imposing a "universal service obligation," which requires them to meet certain coverage and speed requirements, monitored by an authority. This does not mean that you have right to free internet, but the right to subscribe to an ISP regardless of where you live. 
 

july 4th 2009 I'm back home to visit family, and my phone goes off, it's a twitter update, Ryan Martin has won the Pirate party Administrative Officer Elections, meaning he just gained control of a US political Party. this was something we had been involved with on the side for several months, ryan had be casually assessing the party via their beloved social medium, IRC, it didn't take long before he had realized they were all a bunch of Jackasses. so he decided he could do it better. and we did, electing Ryan, as well as one of our online peers Bethany Jolly.
